The Active Gymnastics exercises of the ImPuls Method have been carefully designed to improve flexibility, range of motion (ROM) and core strength while building stability and coordination.
Similar to the yoga positions for humans, these active gymnastics exercises increase the sense of proprioception of the body ("self-awareness of where each part of the body is located") and thus help to correct muscle function in particular.
Specific series of movements for each part of the body help to mobilise tense areas and build strength in weak or underdeveloped muscles.
Active gymnastics is easy for owners to learn and the horses really enjoy the exercises. Combining routines from different parts of the body (e.g. neck and back or front and hindquarters) provides a quick and effective workout that can replace a normal training session.
It is possible to book an ImPuls Method active gymnastics training session as a single module. Blocks consisting of a combination of bodywork and active gymnastics have proved particularly successful, as this is where the greatest benefit can be gained from the routines. After a bodywork session, special active gymnastics exercises are recommended, which the owner can and should do between sessions.
